Merry Christmas to all 7 of my readers. Hope all of your holidays are going well.
Got the DSL in and set up and I’m in the process of setting up the server. I finally got MT up and running after fighting for hours with getting DBD::mysql installed. There are a lot of resources out there for getting MT running on Mac OS X, but almost none of them are concerned with OS X Server. For the most part I adhered strictly to the Mac Zealots guide. But once I got to the part about installing DBD::mysql, I couldn’t get it to install for love or money. There’s a lot of stuff out there on the web about getting it to work but none of it did.
In the comments on the zealots post, one fellow mentioned not using the CPAN install Bundle::DBI and instead using Bundle::DBI and DBD::mysql, the second of which I had to force install to get it to work. But once that was done, MT would start up properly. It was an incredible pain in the ass. Supposedly you can get cgi execution in any directory, but I think I’ll have to kill the alias in httpd.conf before it will work. How I’m set up I don’t mind, but the big swede was talking about trying to get it to work.
Tomorrow will be spent setting up mail services. Should be a lot of fun. Then there will be much MySQL exporting and importing. Then I have to update the DNS records on all of my domains. The Big Swede should be getting his box set up shortly and bringing it over. I’ll have 2 more static IPs to use if anyone is looking to host a box and wants to chuck some cash my way.
In other news, Canon 1Ds’ are going for $3500 to $3800 on ebay now, and I’m thinking it’s about time to upgrade the camera. I’ve wanted a 1Ds for a while now, and it’s now in the range of what can be considered affordable in the realm of expensive high end digital cameras. I need to do a little saving up, but it shouldn’t take me too long.
Waiting until Sunday to open my christmas gifts and it’s killing me inside.
