What’s with Chris Pirillo’s anti-iPod stance as of late?
All you iPod users are locked into a single brand, a single service, a single source… and that’s kinda bad.
What the fuck is he talking about? I can rip MP3s or AACs from MP3, I can download MP3s from a bunch of places online legally, or I can get music from the iTunes Music Store. There are a bunch of different sources available… CDs!
Somehow this idea that the iPod can only play music downloaded from the iTunes music store. And that’s just not true. It plays, you know, MP3s. I have yet to run into a file I really want to play on my iPod but couldn’t. Sure I’d love it if every music service standardized on one DRM format, but I doubt that’s going to happen any time soon.
