Back in the Saddle

So, the girlfriend has returned from the frozen north. This in tandem with a nasty flu explains my lack of posting as of late. Well, I have returned.

Today was macworld and Apple has delivered unto the world new bitty little ipods and some g5 xserves. They also announced some pretty big updates to iLife. Garage Band looks to be a seriously cool application. It looks like it would be a great app for cutting a demo. iPhoto has been needing an update for quite some time, and I’m glad to see that it can now deal with more than 1000 files gracefully.

I’m personally surprised that they made no major consumer product updates. The G5 xserve is great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard to drive hardware sales based off only new relatively minor software updates.

The new ipods are pretty cool for what they are, but I don’t know if I would personally buy one. But considering that I have 3 ipods right now, I don’t think I need any more of them. It will be interesting to see them in person to see how small they actually are. Perhaps then I will be swayed. The new control wheel is pretty seriously cool though.
