A big sorry to all my conservative readers, but why does anyone take Rush Limbaugh seriously anymore? I understand his drug problem. Hell if Robert Downey Jr. can be so whacked out that he wakes up in someone else’s house and still be a good actor, I’m willing to extend a little sympathy to the Rush man. But Downey isn’t saying that the Abuse suffered by prisoners of Abu Ghraib prison is the equivalent of Fraternity Hazing. And that no one should be loosing their jobs over it.
Is this guy for real? Or has he moved on to smoking crack as his drug of choice. There is no way that this kind of behavior would be publicly tolerated in US jails. And I fail to see a reason why the prisoners being iraqi should make any difference in how they are treated.
Rush says that they were just “blowing off steam” and “having a good time”.
From the Taguba report:
Breaking chemical lights and pouring the phosphoric liquid on detainees; pouring cold water on naked detainees; beating detainees with a broom handle and a chair; threatening male detainees with rape; allowing a military police guard to stitch the wound of a detainee who was injured after being slammed against the wall in his cell; sodomizing a detainee with a chemical light and perhaps a broom stick, and using military working dogs to frighten and intimidate detainees with threats of attack, and in one instance actually biting a detainee.
Sounds pretty harmless to me.
But really, how insane does someone have to be before people stop taking them seriously? I’d just like to know for future reference.
