This weekend contains a martial arts seminar, some training, having a birthday dinner, and hopefully some photography. Good times.
So yeah, next wednesday. 30. 3 Decades. I was talking to my sister in law and brother in New York the other day, and they asked me how it felt. Truthfully, besides physical issues of age, Aging itself is really fulfilling to me. In your thirties, you really start coming into social and political clout, and really have a chance to start testing yourself and your ideas against the world. I think this is a good thing. Given how long people live these days, 30 is still far less than half your life gone, and your years from 30-60 probably represent your greatest opportunities for making a positive impact on the world. So, in short, I’m looking forward to it.
Learningphoto has seen a huge drop in traffic for some odd reason. I’m wondering if there’s been a search engine drop off. Given that I don’t promote it, I don’t have much to complain about though. Which leads into more brain storming.
I really need to start hitting the content side of things pretty heavily there, and I’ve been kicking around the details of bringing a couple of people on to help out on that side of things. On the promotion side, I’ve been thinking about getting Doug’s help to start an awareness campaign.
Learningphoto is really for beginning to mid-level photographers to get a hold of developing RAW files. I’d like to expand that to include making prints as well. So raising awareness of the site to other photographers is a great place to start.
IsolatedInstance needs to be pushed out to a completely different crowd, which is probably people looking to decorate their houses. It’s more directly a vehicle for moving my prints, and needs to be presented in the right venues. Finding those venues is going to take some exploration.
One thing that is very clear is that there is a definite need for deliberate promotion, and there’s essentially nothing at the moment.
