Listen, I only have so many terabytes on the NAS I built a decade ago. It’s probably time for an upgrade. 18TB drives are roughly $300 each now? Woof.
It’s probably time to double up.
Update 2025:
I upgraded to 6 18TB drives in a RAIDZ2. After a few years I’m only at about 60% used capacity so I shouldn’t have to upgrade again any time soon.
I also moved from Xigmanas to TrueNAS scale. TrueNAS is much better.
