nice story, now two years later. i am wedded to the ex71's, for countless reasons. now my cord has shorted out and the phones are discontinued. all i can find are copies, counterfeits, unbrandeds from the "same factory', etc. look identical but none have the sound, which is an aesthetic not accounted for by these non-sony businesses.

so as you have delved extensively in this arena, where might i find a few pairs laying around? i've bought so many by now, all disappointing, i don't know where to turn.
