Airport Disk Slow Performance

It was my ambition last night to set up a 300GB drive, hook it to the Airport Extreme in the office, and have a little backup action happening in an automated fashion.

The good old standby of Rsync was to be the weapon of choice. Given that my tower machine has a 90GB home folder

Fix for Apple Aluminum Keyboard Dashboard and Expose keys not working

I love the new Apple keyboard. But like a lot of other people, on one of my machines, the expose and dashboard keys weren’t working. So I thought I would dig into the issue. The problem is apparently that Dock.app isn’t getting updated properly. The keyboard driver is sending the commands

These are just awesome

You’ve already got that hole in your desk. Make a USB hub, or iPod dock out of it.

Tor Geekiness

I’m using TOR for most of my browsing these days utilizing the pretty chill Vidalia. But sometimes teh TOR is very very slow. So I’ll want to switch it off momentarily.

This is an annoying process requiring you to head into system preferences, click on your interface, click on proxies tab… yadda yadda.

A visit to stupid town

So I went to the Apple store today to pick up a second new keyboard. One for work. Yes I love them.

While I was there I thought I would check out a Canon HV20, and see how imovie was working with HDV. While I was wandering around I overheard this:
